COVID Negative

Sunday, August 30, 2020 After a long 48 hours for both Rena and I and all those we had come in contact. --waiting for Covid results, .NEGATIVE  Results...whew!! Beautiful day for a ride to GW in Rockland with Rena...I invited Jan(she was busy).  When we are on the road...we try to stop when we see things especially when trying to hunt down our missing license plate game. (game is played between Memorial Day and Labor Day)  I need Arkansas and Hawaii--good for a covid summer with so few people traveling.  A  quick side trip to see if Morses Sauerkraut was open. It hours remain reduced due to thus is only open M-F a few hours a day.  The next stop by to Savage Oaks Winery---took a walk out to see the vineyards then purchase a bottle of wine for home.  Lunch at Claws in Rockland --sitting outside with a great view of the harbor looking out over Rockland--Ferry from Vinalhaven or  Isleboro was coming in to dock.  After a delicious lunch, I had a haddock sandwich with a diet coke, it was of

Earth Station Andover

 Monday, August 17, 2020 Trip towards Andover, Maine searching for Devil's Den.  We were close but were unsuccessful finding using the GPS.  Perhaps we didn't drive quite far enough.   Here is the description.    Devil's   Den .  Devil's   Den  is located about 6-7 miles on South Arm Road just outside of town. This spot offers a great view of a small canyon, from which it received its name.  Saturday, August 15, 2020 Lighthouses were built to be seen from the water and Maine Maritime Museum offers  the chance to see ten of Maine’s finest lighthouses the way they were meant to be seen!   On this cruise we saw all the lighthouses along the Kennebec Historic Waterway and through Boothbay Harbor.  Doubling Point Lighthouse-Built in 1898, it is a white octagonal tower placed on the upper end of Fiddler’s Reach. Kennebec Range Lights-A unique set of two beacon towers designed to help ships maneuver through a difficult bend of the river. Squirrel Point Lighthouse-A small, white wooden tower with a small room and attached walkway.  Built in 1898. Perkins Island Lighthouse-A white, wooden octagonal tower, with the keeper’s house, barn and stone bell tower. Pond Island Lighthouse-A white conical tower near the mouth of the Kennebec River.  No other buildings remain on Pond Island.
